Deaf and Hard of Hearing

Bruce has represented deaf and heard of hearing clients in a wide variety of legal matters.  Some of those matters include representation of deaf and hard of hearing individuals in significant personal injury litigation, including wrongful death and conscious pain and suffering.

Additionally, Bruce has represented members of the deaf and hard of hearing community in matters ranging from eviction proceedings brought in Housing Court; matrimonial actions arising out of spousal abuse; and, for example, commercial matters where deaf clients have been discriminated against due to their hearing loss.

Bruce has advised deaf and hard of hearing clients, moreover, in matters involving consumer fraud; discrimination in employment; discrimination in hospital and medical settings; and in controversies surrounding public entitlements.

Furthermore, Bruce serves in a voluntary capacity as counsel to a task force comprised of deaf and hard of hearing advocates who seek to advance the interests of this special community in the context of the judicial system. Bruce advises, additionally, deaf and hard hearing advocates, including social workers, vocational rehabilitation experts and psychologists, who consult with Bruce for advice on legal matters involving the deaf and hard of hearing community.

Bruce is executive director of a not-for-profit corporation that strives to deliver legal services to deaf and hard of hearing individuals. Bruce began studying American Sign Language over twenty five years ago and continues to learn American Sign Language regularly as he communicates with the deaf community.
